My Story Between Two Pregnancies

My first born was a caesarian delivery. As a first-time mother, I went through pains associated with pregnancy & delivery, postpartum depression, feeding issues, stress around a colicky baby etc. thinking, all of that was normal and expected. After all, I had been conditioned with such pregnancy related stories over lifetime.

What I didn’t know at the time of my first born Viraaj, was that pregnancy stories can be happy, positive and memorable ones. Of course, at the end of the day, it’s all about perspective. However, our experiences go a long way in shaping our views and opinion.

Post baby’s arrival, life took its course, and I got busy with Viraaj. Career and job, were not a priority during this phase. Besides, I was seriously contemplating a change in my career choice. Sales and marketing didn’t ignite feeling of delight in me; it truly wasn’t my calling. So, post pregnancy was the best time to go within and seek my true joy. I dabbled with color and craft, which brought so much peace and joy. A year into motherhood, information about Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) caught my attention. The inner guidance told me I must enroll for the course; and I did.

At BCST classes, I had revelation over revelation about human body. I began to marvel my body and its innate intelligence! During the course of the programme, Birth and Pregnancy were two such powerful seminars which rewired the part of my brain, which was full of fear, doubts, exhaustion, depression, whenever I spoke or thought about pregnancy and babies. The seminars threw light upon, how mothers and the baby's system were in synchrony with each other right from the day of conception. Also, how pregnancy and delivery were such a natural process and didn’t require intervention until the situation called for it. Basic premise being, like any other mammal giving birth to their offspring, human bodies are also designed to do the same in the most natural way.

Further, I was fortunate to having worked with The Birth Home, a natural birthing center in Bangalore. The center is a warm and homely set up which offers midwifery care and services and encourages pregnant women, to deliver in the most natural way with minimum interventions and utmost love and care. I work here as a Craniosacral Therapist, primarily, offering my services to pregnant ladies and babies. I was amazed to see, young mothers being so aware and well informed about pregnancy and willing to trust their body to take its own course of action!

It was here, where for the first time I sensed joy, pride and empowerment in women who chose to give birth, naturally. I am a firm believer that our inner emotions play a very vital role in our physical well-being. After witnessing experiences of such assured mothers, I felt a sense of release of fear and unknown sensations in my own system, which led to yet another beautiful story of natural delivery of my second child 😊

I tried for VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarian) and my daughter, Vidusha, who is 7 months old now was born to me in The Birth Home, amongst people whom I love to be and work with! She is a water baby and was born naturally with utmost love, warmth and care. I am so grateful to the higher power up above, for blessing me with this beautiful experience, memories of which will last the lifetime!

Coming up in the future, my experience with VBAC. Stay tuned!
